Polar H9 Heart Rate Monitor Review

I thought it time to invest in a decent chest strap heart rate monitor, my Ticwatch Pro 3 of course tracks heart rate beats per minute, but it doesn't connect to my workout equipment. The Concept 2 Model D Rower can accept heart rate monitors and so can my Lifespan APEX Treadmill, luckily the Polar 9 Chest strap will connect to both machines or their apps. The PM5 on the Concept 2 Rower now shows a heart symbol signifying when the chest strap is connected and also adds the heart rate to the log book entries, wonderful, just wonderful. I'll be interested to see how the H9 goes while wearing on an outside walk as I mainly workout indoors on the treadmill and Rowerg.

Concept 2 Indoor Rowing at Home

I've owned a Model D Concept 2 Row Erg for a few years, I will never sell it, well unless Concept 2 release a better rowing machine, why, because it's the ultimate exercising device one can use. It's industrial, they don't yet make a version that comes in a pink colour scheme (hoo fucking ray) it's a serious bit of kit, it's strong, it's long, it does exactly what it's designed to do, offer an intense indoor rowing workout, it absolutely achieves that aim. Have I used it everyday since I've owned it? NO! I primarily bought the Model D for rehab after a lost the use of both legs, luckily temporarily (3 months), I did my research on low impact exercise equipment, rowing seemed like just the ticket, sitting down, very leg orientated with of course good upper body use as well. Connected Footwear by Under Armour

These Under Armour Velociti Wind shoes are under the category of running on UA's website, I have no idea how the are as far as comfort etc. they are when running. I only walk these days and they are perfect for walking on the treadmill or on the footpath. The thing that really piqued this geeks interest was that they connect to an app, the app shows some great information from your walking and running exercises.

Lifespan Apex Treadmill Maintenance

How to maintain your Apex Treadmill We usually have two choices in life, with cars we can learn to change our own tyre with the spare if we get a puncture or call the RACV (roadside assistance of your choosing), I always prefer to do what I can when it comes to maintenance and minor repairs at the very least. This treadmill like many does need the odd amount of adjustment and lubrication to keep it running smoothly and efficiently, the main part that needs occasional love is the running/walk belt. Alignment of the belt is important, keeping it as centred as possible is key, if it goes too far to one side or the other you can hear it scraping which will most likely do damage to the belt if left unattended. The adjustment for keeping the belt centred is with two bolts at the back of the deck, the bolts on the Apex are allen key heads. These bolts also what is used to keep tension on the belt so it doesn't slip or if too tight doesn't put undue load on the treadmill electric moto

Concept 2 RowErg Maintenance

A more specific post on the Concept 2, this time about maintenance and care. it's for me, a place where I can keep the links and info so I don't have to go searching for it when I need it. Yep I'm sure most of the links will probably lead one back to the main concept 2 website, though I will look for some good youtube videos as well. Model D RowERG Maintenance The Concept 2 is a piece of exercise equipment reasonably priced for the home user and the go to rower for Gyms etc. Rowing clubs have them for indoor training, they are the standard and extremely well built for all users. I'm a Mechanic, we love robust machinery that doesn't require a lot of maintenance and constant repairs, I love the Concept 2 Model RowErg. More to come...

Hello World

I've mainly created this blog to keep me honest as I'm on a bit of a fitness kick, read if you like, though it's not for you, it's for me. My most frequent exercise will be done on a Treadmill I bought cheap from Lifespan Fitness at their shop in Broadmeadows, Victoria. I use the app supplied by Lifespan, the app is not flashy which of course caves the arses in of some out there, but for me as long as the app logs the info of my workouts/walking then that's all I need, in fact I despise bling distractions, give me the bloody info, the Lifespan app does this! The APEX Treadmill counts distance steps and other metrics, I'm a step kinda guy, steps are what I like to increase... The footwear I use for this exercising are running shoes from Under Armour , I also use the UA Map my Walk app which connects to the UA footwear to log my walking exercises, I use UA's Wind Velociti and Sonic 3 shoes. Now, speaking of apps, Under Armour has some great apps, if you wan
